FROM SKEPTIC TO ADVOCATE: A COMMUNITY TRANSFORMED
In the small community of Korsid, transformation often begins with a single person. For one 65-year-old resident, a lifetime of habits changed when Haiti Outreach introduced their sanitation initiative. Having never used a latrine before, he not only built one for himself but became a passionate advocate for proper sanitation.
"I never knew how important this was," he shared, his conviction so strong that he promised to continue his advocacy even if he relocated. "Wherever I go, I will spread this message."
His story reflects a broader community metamorphosis. Just one month ago, only 10 of Korsid's 56 households had latrines. Today, every home has installed proper sanitation facilities, earning the community official certification from DINEPA, which recognizes communities with universal latrine access and handwashing stations.
The residents didn't stop there. The photograph captures their community road cleanup day—a testament to their expanding vision. For the people of Korsid, this journey isn't merely about sanitation; it's about creating a clean, healthy environment that fosters economic growth and responsible citizenship.
